PRIVACY · ON-DEVICE CHARTS

Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy explains how Crochet Pattern Generator (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) handles information when you use crochetpatterngenerator.net and its free chart tools.

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Plain-language summary

You can draw graphs, convert photos, and download charts without creating an account. Chart editing and photo conversion run in your browser. Drafts may be stored on your device only. We do not sell personal information. If you email support, we see the content of that message so we can reply. The sections below are the full policy.

1. Scope

This policy covers the public website at https://crochetpatterngenerator.net, including the homepage colorwork editor, Photo to Crochet Pattern, Filet Crochet Pattern Generator, Tapestry Crochet Pattern Maker, and informational pages such as About, Contact, Terms, and this Privacy Policy.

It does not cover third-party websites you reach through external links, offline software you install yourself, or yarn retailers and pattern shops that are not operated by us. If we launch additional services that change how data is handled, we will update this page.

2. Who is responsible

Crochet Pattern Generator is the operator of this website. For privacy questions, access requests related to email you sent us, or concerns about this policy, contact:

Email: [email protected]

We may also be reached through the Contact page, which uses the same address.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information that stays on your device

When you use an editor, pattern data (grid size, colors, mesh cells, tapestry settings, chart names you type, undo history held in memory, and similar design state) is processed in the browser. Photo conversion reads the image you select so it can sample colors and build a graph; that processing is intended to happen locally in your session.

To restore work after a refresh, each tool may save a draft in your browser storage (typically IndexedDB or related web storage). Those drafts are tied to your browser profile on that device. We do not receive a live copy of your stitch map as part of ordinary charting. Clearing site data, uninstalling the browser, or using private mode can delete drafts permanently.

3.2 Downloads you create

PNG and PDF files are generated for you to save. Once downloaded, those files live wherever you store them (device disk, cloud folders you control, printers, and so on). We do not operate a pattern locker that keeps export history for your account, because there is no account.

3.3 Information you send on purpose

If you email [email protected], we process the address you use, the message body, any attachments you include, and technical headers your mail provider sends. Use that channel only for support, privacy, legal, or similar requests — not to upload entire pattern libraries for storage.

3.4 Technical delivery data

Like most websites, hosting and network providers that deliver the static site may process standard request logs such as IP address, date and time, requested URL, user agent, and referral URL. Those logs are used to operate security, diagnose outages, and understand aggregate traffic. They are not used to rebuild your crochet graphs.

3.5 What we do not require

  • No mandatory user registration or profile.
  • No payment card collection on this site for chart tools (the tools are free).
  • No requirement to upload charts to our servers to download PNG or PDF.

4. How we use information

  • To provide the chart editors, guides, and downloads in your browser.
  • To restore on-device drafts when that feature is available in your browser.
  • To respond to support and privacy emails you send.
  • To keep the site available, secure, and reasonably performant.
  • To update legal pages and product documentation when practices change.

Optional local custom events (for example editor start or export format) may be dispatched inside the page for debugging or future first-party integration. They are not forwarded to a third-party analytics product as part of the current site design described in our project documentation.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Core chart features rely on browser storage for drafts and normal web platform APIs, not on a marketing cookie wall. We do not run a third-party advertising pixel network on the chart tools. If the hosting platform or browser sets strictly necessary cookies for security or load balancing, those are limited to operating the site.

You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. Doing so may reset drafts and preferences stored for crochetpatterngenerator.net.

6. Sharing and processors

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share chart contents with other users. We may use infrastructure providers (for example static hosting, DNS, and email delivery) that process technical or support data solely to provide their service under their own terms and safeguards.

We may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the site and its users — for example investigating abuse of the support inbox.

7. Retention

  • On-device drafts: retained until you clear them, overwrite them, or your browser removes site data.
  • Support email: retained as long as needed to resolve your request, maintain a basic record of correspondence, and meet legal obligations.
  • Server or CDN logs: retained according to the host’s operational defaults and security needs, then deleted or aggregated.

8. Security

We use HTTPS for site delivery and rely on modern browser isolation for local processing. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Because drafts live on your device, physical access to your computer or malware on your device can expose them. Protect your device with OS updates and, where appropriate, full-disk encryption.

Do not email secrets you do not want stored in mail systems. Prefer describing a problem (browser, tool page, steps) over attaching unpublished commercial charts unless necessary.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to particular processing. For data that exists only in your browser, you exercise control directly by clearing site storage or deleting downloads.

For personal data in emails you sent us, contact [email protected] with enough detail to locate the messages. We may need to verify that the request comes from the relevant address. We will respond within a reasonable period consistent with applicable law.

If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding personal information we actually hold (typically support correspondence, not on-device charts we never received).

10. Children

The site is aimed at a general audience of crafters and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through account registration, because registration is not offered. If you believe a child sent personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it from our support records when applicable.

11. International use

The site may be served from infrastructure in more than one country. If you contact us by email, your message may be processed in the United States or other locations where our mail tools operate. By using the site or contacting us, you understand that processing may occur outside your home country, subject to this policy and applicable law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when tools, hosting, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we publish a revision. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the new text. Material changes that affect how we handle support email or any future account features will be reflected here.
