Terms of Use.

1. Agreement

Crochet Pattern Generator (“we”, “us”) offers browser-based tools for creating crochet colorwork graphs, photo-derived charts, filet mesh maps, and tapestry color-run guides. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the site.

These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how information is handled. Features may change over time; descriptions on tool pages and FAQs explain current capabilities more specifically than marketing phrases.

2. The service

The site provides free, self-serve charting utilities. Unless we clearly state otherwise on a page:

• No account is required to draw, convert, or download standard charts.
• Tools run in supported modern browsers with JavaScript enabled.
• Drafts may save only in your browser storage and are not a hosted backup service.
• Exports (PNG/PDF) are visual charts and related notes generated from your current design state. They are not guaranteed to be a complete commercial pattern package.

We may add, change, or remove tools, templates, limits (such as maximum grid size), export layouts, or help content. We may suspend access for maintenance, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding agreement under the laws of your region. The site is not directed at children under 13. Because we do not offer user accounts, you are responsible for controlling access to any device where drafts or downloads are stored.

4. License to use the site

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the site for lawful crochet charting and related personal or internal business project planning, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

• Scrape, bulk-download, or mirror the site in a way that harms service availability.
• Attempt to reverse engineer the service except where law expressly allows.
• Bypass technical limits, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or introduce malware.
• Misrepresent the site as endorsing a yarn brand, pattern shop, or third-party product without permission.
• Use automated systems to overwhelm editors, export pipelines, or the support inbox.

5. Your designs and uploads

You retain whatever rights you already have in charts you draw, text you type, and images you select for conversion. You are solely responsible for that material.

By using photo conversion or any import feature, you represent that you have the rights needed to process the image into a crochet chart — for example, photos you took, designs you own, or material used with permission or under a suitable license. Do not upload or convert images that infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, or privacy rights.

Because processing is designed to stay in your browser, we do not claim ownership of your stitch maps. If you email us files for support, you grant us permission to view them only to troubleshoot your request, not to publish them as our patterns.

6. Our intellectual property

The site’s name, layout, original help copy, original templates we provide, logos, and software implementation are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy the site’s code, distinctive branding, or documentation wholesale for a competing service.

Original starter templates are offered so you can edit them into your own projects. Unless a template page says otherwise, you may crochet and gift or sell finished items you make from charts you customized. Selling the unmodified digital template files from this site as your own downloadable pattern product is not allowed.

“Crochet Pattern Generator” and crochetpatterngenerator.net refer to this site and are not a claim of affiliation with unrelated craft brands that use similar common English words.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the site to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Infringe others’ intellectual property or privacy.
• Harass, threaten, or spam our support channels.
• Generate or distribute charts whose primary purpose is unlawful activity (the tools are for craft charting).
• Interfere with other users’ enjoyment of the service.

8. Charts are guides, not professional advice

Exports and on-screen instructions help you plan color placement, mesh structure, or color runs. They do not replace gauge swatches, yarn labels, safety testing for children’s items, or professional pattern tech editing. Hook size, tension, fiber behavior, and finishing choices remain yours.

Photo conversion approximates an image with a limited palette and stitch grid. Results vary with photo quality, crop, color count, and grid size. Filet lettering and tapestry notes follow the rules described on those tool pages; always verify foundation chains and row direction before cutting yarn.

PDF text uses built-in fonts suitable for common Latin characters. Unusual symbols in custom titles may not render perfectly in PDF even when they appear in the browser.

9. Third-party links

The site may mention or link to third-party resources. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SITE AND ALL TOOLS, TEMPLATES, TEXT, AND DOWNLOADS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of harmful components, or that drafts will never be lost. Browser storage can fail; always download charts you care about.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR CHART FILES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR INABILITY TO USE IT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SITE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH IS TYPICALLY ZERO BECAUSE THE TOOLS ARE FREE) OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, liability is limited to the fullest extent still allowed.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the site, your designs or uploaded images, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Copyright complaints

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send a detailed notice to [email protected] including: your contact information, a description of the work, the URL or location of the allegedly infringing material, a statement of good-faith belief that use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act. We will respond as required by applicable law.

Note that user charts generally remain on user devices. Hosted page content (templates, articles, UI) is what we can remove or adjust directly on the site.

14. Governing law

To the extent permitted by law, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that jurisdiction may have exclusive venue, except where consumer protection laws in your country give you mandatory rights to local courts.

15. Changes

We may revise these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms. If you disagree, stop using the site.
